A Record-Breaking Summer for Women’s Football!

This summer marked a defining moment in the world of sport, as the women’s football championship delivered unforgettable moments, fierce competition and a serious boost in global attention. From stunning goals to sold-out stadiums, it’s safe to say that the women’s game has never been more watched, more supported or more celebrated.

Over 720,000 fans attended matches across the host country, Switzerland, and a global TV audience in the hundreds of millions tuned in, smashing viewership records from the previous tournament. Online, engagement soared, with social media interactions around the tournament up more than 150% compared to 2022. The appetite for women’s sport is not just growing – it’s thriving.

And what a journey it’s been. After weeks of high-stakes clashes and nail-biting drama, it was England who rose to the top. In a tightly contested final at the iconic St. Jakob-Park in Basel, it all came down to penalties where the Lionesses defeated Spain and claimed the Women’s 2025 title. A historic moment, and one that will inspire generations to come.

This tournament has shown us what happens when talent meets opportunity. Investment, visibility and public support are proving to be game-changers for female athletes, and we’re proud to be part of an industry that is moving the needle toward greater representation and equality – on and off the pitch.

Fun fact to finish: This was the first ever EURO (men’s or women’s) to feature an all-female officiating team in a final match – another milestone moment in an already landmark tournament.

Let’s keep backing progress. Here’s to even more milestones in women’s sport.
